As long as nothing too disturbing hits me wrong

If you want some beautiful music to chill to, check out Melody Gardot. I’m not really into jazz music as a whole, but her voice is so smooth and the music is just gorgeous. See for yourself…

Leave Out All The Rest (Album Version) – Linkin Park
I dreamed I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen
Cause no one else cared
After my dreaming
I woke with this fear
What am I leaving
When I’m done here
I’m strong on the surface
Not all the way through
I’ve never been perfect
But neither have you
Pretending
Someone else can come and save me from myself
I can’t be who you are
When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I’ve done
Help me leave behind
Some reasons to be missed
Don’t resent me
And when you’re feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
-Linkin Park

According to The National Center for Health Statistics 43% of first marriages end in separation or divorce within 15 years. That’s a lot of heartbreak.
According to Dr. Google, almost 20% or 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Not as common as divorce, but statistically, that’s a very large number.
So why have artists performed a multitude of odes to lost love and not about losing the love of a child? There are thousands of songs about heartbreak, but very few about the loss of a child in general, and even fewer focused on miscarriage. In fact, I can only name one (without another Google search): Tori Amos’ “Playboy Mommy”. It speaks well to the guilt mothers feel when they lose a baby. It’s something I know I identified with when I lost my baby girl in 2007.
The song below is one that has always reminded me of the Bean. I know it’s supposed to be romantic love song, but it makes me think about the baby I lost. It came on the iPod this morning and made me a little melancholy, but I wanted to share it with you anyway.

The new year is supposed to be about resolutions and making changes in your life, but I know a lot of us feel like we’re so buried under the pressures of life that we can’t see a way to change it. Some of you have experienced some really terrible tragedies lately and I know you would love to just make all of it go away, but we have to keep on with the day to day. We have other people relying on us and we have to keep things going. So this song is for you…
Storm is brewing in the air tonight
So many pressures on my mind
Want to escape
Just wanna run away
But it’s not an option
I have to stay
Can’t believe the irony
The thing I wanted is killing me
All the happy smiles I miss
Didn’t think it would be like this
And so I pray
I wish that all these things would go away
To disappear if only for a day
Know I can’t go but I don’t wanna stay
To be left alone if only for a day
I wish that all these things would go away
(pray to you, I hope it will be alright)
To be someone else if only for a day
(and over soon, I feel it)
Know I can’t go but I don’t wanna stay
(hope that you hear me)

Esthero’s Melancholy Melody
Leave me alone
I just want to lay here in my room and let myself cry
I apologize if I’ve disappointed you
I got lost in my darkness and the light hurts my eyes
I know you’re counting on me to feed all of our families
But I just need to be on my own for a little while
Cause I can’t stop singing these melancholy melodies
So until then I’ll hide
I feel tired all the time, yeah, this weight is exhausting
I cannot please everyone, least of all me
I have no more to give you, it’s already been stolen
Tell me, what’s left for me, a melancholy melody
