Look I posted something!

OK, so apparently my hubby is deciding to keep his brilliant observations of our kids on his playgroup forum instead of sharing with all of you. Sorry, that’s just the way he rolls.

And since I’m all boring now that I’m medicated, I don’t have much to share anymore. I’m entirely too mellow to get all up on my soapbox and rant about politics or crazy news stories. I’m enjoying feeling sane, but it does make for a boring blog.

So work is good. I’m a busy little bee trying to implement our learning management system for about 150 people and their hundreds of documents. It’s tedious work, but it keeps me busy and it keeps me connected to my customers, which is very nice. I’m moving cubes next week (again). It’s just up one floor, but I’ll have lots of storage space and a whole wall of windows. Yeah, it’s a view of the parking lot, but it’s SUNSHINE! (When there is sunshine to see.) It’s in the lab area and that’s a little disconcerting, but I know you all will tell me if I start growing a fifth limb or third eye.

The kids are doing well. Everybody is healthy at the moment (*knock on wood*). My little geniuses are blowing my mind every day. The Kid is reading full on chapter books now (he’s read the entire Magic Treehouse series and the Captain Underpants books, he just started the My Teacher is an Alien series). Baby Boo can recognize and name at least 3/4 of the alphabet. He’s speaking in 2-3 word sentences and repeating every other word we say. It’s amazing how their little brains just soak everything up! Needless to say, I’m very proud of my smart little guys.

OK, enough bragging. Here’s a little something I saw while Boo was watching Sesame Street the other day. I like how they kept so much of the original song lyrics and changed it into a great little kid song. Plus, it’s cool that Jason Mraz is so comfortable singing with the puppets.

Twilight fans get punked (NaBloPoMo #27)

The concept of this prank is hilarious: Tell a bunch of manic Twilight fans that they’re going to see the new Twilight movie and instead they get a “vampire intervention” from a couple of comedians. However, the execution was just lame and there was absolutely no pay off. Where’s the rioting Team Edward members? All we get is one stupid girl demanding to see “the person who rented the theater”. I know hardcore Twilight fans are INSANE and would not have reacted kindly to this kind of stunt. This crew just calmly leaves the theater, with a few of them flipping the bird. Oh well, at least the comedians were kind of funny:

Crack cocaine spider (NaBloPoMo #26)

I’ve been kicking back so far this week and not doing a whole lot, which is nice. Yesterday I spent 10 hours at Archivers and finished 20 scrapbook pages. That may be a record for me! The key was I didn’t invite any of my friends along and I wasn’t watching TV so I could focus my full attention on getting those pages done! I may post a few of the exceptionally cute pages.

Sorry for all the video posts. Hubby has been sending me some funny stuff lately and I just have to share!

Keep f*****g that turkey! (NaBloPoMo #25)

Newscaster briefly loses his mind during a live telecast. Can anyone tell me what this phrase even means? It makes no sense! Enjoy a good laugh on your Turkey Day:

Gimme that Christian side hug! (NaBloPoMo #24)

This video was apparently created to address the rampant full frontal hug problem with today’s Christian youth.

I saw New Moon, kiddies! (NaBloPoMo #21)

Saw “New Moon” today and it was teh awesome! I loved it, possibly more than “Twilight” just because the angst quotient was multiplied exponentially. Plus, shirtless Jacob is HAWT. Where’s the Taylor Lautner turns 18 countdown clock? I won’t feel right about ogling him until… oh, who am I kidding? The boy has some nice abs!

The only part that disappointed me was Bella during the “Oh my god, Edward left me!” scene in the woods. I really wanted to see more emotion from Kristen Stewart. I mean, hello, she’s supposed to be damn near suicidal and Kristen Stewart can’t work up a single tear? I guess it’s true that she has her own “unique” acting style:

Most annoying kid shows (NaBloPoMo #15)

Having 2 little kids and being a generally lazy mother, over the last 5 years I’ve been exposed to a lot of children’s television. Some of it I love (Backyardigans, Word Girl, the original Electric Company, Jack’s Big Music Show, The Upside Down Show, etc.), but some of it I can’t stand and try very hard to keep off of my TV. In no particular order, my top 5 most hated children’s shows:

1. Barney – I hate this purple dinosaur. He talks like he’s mentally handicapped and all of the kids look like Stepford Children. I think he’s pulling a Hansel & Gretel and just waiting until the kids fatten up to have a feast.

2. Dora – WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO YELL ALL THE FREAKIN TIME?!? And why won’t she share anything with Swiper? Bitch.

3. Diego – Where are this kid’s parents? Who lets a little kid run around the jungle with wild animals and a talking backpack?

4. The Wonder Pets – There was a time when I liked this show, but then I realized it had absolutely no educational value, the visuals are creepy and the lisping duck is annoying.

5. Max and Ruby – The older sister is annoying mother hen and the little brother bunny is a complete little shit who never gets in trouble or pays for his crimes. My theory is that Max will grow up to be a sociopath, slaughtering bunnies a la “Watership Down”.

Can you add to this list? What kid shows do you find most annoying?

Friday Night Movie Lights (NaBloPoMo #13)

My hubby recently sent me a list he found online of the top whatever of movies the author would watch over and over again. None of those movies were on my list, so I thought I’d post my own!

In no particular order, here are my top 10 most watchable movies. Not necessarily examples of fine cinema, but I could watch these movies over and over again.

1. Labyrinth – Yeah, I know everybody likes to make fun of David Bowie and his codpiece, but this movie is one of my all time favorites. Goblin muppets, a bog with a serious flatulence problem and a young Jennifer Connelly – what more could you ask for? I love this movie so much I have the soundtrack on my iPod.

2. Legend – Tim Curry with so much latex on, the only real part of him you can see are his eyelids. No, I’m not talking about Dr. Frank N. Furter, I’m talking about the devil, big ass horns and all. And Tom Cruise in tights, prancing around a magical forest full of fairies and unicorns. (Foreshadowing?)

3. Dirty Dancing – I don’t go out of my way to watch this move over and over again, but any time it’s on TV, I’m watching it. I love the romantic story, I love the dancing and I love Baby’s famous quote. I don’t know why women in general like this movie so much, but I am definitely one of them.

4. The Neverending Story – Another 80s fantasy classic. I’m still dying to know what his mother’s name was. Moon something?

5. The Princess Bride – I have a terrible memory, but I can quopte this movie like crazy. Especially the priest and the scene with Billy Crstal and his witch wife. I had the biggest crush on Carey Elwes from this movie. Then I saw his old, overweight self in Saw and that was the end of that.

6. The Sound of Music – I don’t really care how true the story is or isn’t, I just love this musical and watch it whenever it’s on. I used to sing in my room, imagining I was Liesl “going on 17″.

7. Meet Me In St. Louis – I’ve never been a big Judy Garland Fan, but this is a movie I love to watch around the holidays. The Halloween scene is the best. Basically any scene with Tootie is great.

8. LadyHawke – This is a tradition in my family. Whenever we’d get together, we watched LadyHawke. The romantic tale of a man who is a wolf by night and his lady love who is a hawk by day, with Matthew Broderick as the comic relief. Clearly, I have a thing for 80s movies. Which brings us to…

9. Red Sonja and Conan – I am not happy there is talk of remaking Red Sonja with Rose McGowan in the lead. No way could she compare with Brigitte Nielsen! I lump these movies together since they are basically the same kind of movie/story/etc. I love Beastmaster, too. I could have a marathon viewing of all of these!

10. Clash of the Titans – The hokey special effects, the mechanical owl and Mark Hamilton in a toga! I totally love this movie and watch it whenever I catch it on TV. Release the Kraken! (I know they’re remaking this one, too. So far the trailers look pretty good.)

Balloon Boy and His Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad parents (NaBloPoMo #2)

So who honestly fell for that whole Balloon Boy thing? Doesn’t anyone watch Mythbusters? It would take a lot more than some tin foil and helium to get a 6 year old off the ground.

In my not so humble opinion, any parents who rent out their kids purely for their own attention should have their kids taken away and themselves permanently sterilized. The kid was PUKING on national television. He’s clearly upset about the whole thing. Yet the jerk father kept parading the whole family out for every interview.

Well, it looks like the parents are getting plenty of attention, just not the kind they had in mind. Which is exactly what they deserve.

Well I almost forgot it was twilight

As anyone who’s been reading this site for a while knows, if a movie, book or TV show features something paranormal (ghosts, psychics, werewolves, witches or vampires… oh my!) chances are excellent that I’ve read/watched it.

So when the Twittermoms posted a bit about a contest at Love Impossible, a site dedicated to vampire and time travel romance books/movies, of course I had to check it out. So far, it looks like the site is a space for those of us who’d love to bag a boy with bite to post our own reviews of the genres we love.

If you like your movies/fiction to suck (in the good way), check out the Love Impossible contest and you could win a pre-ordered Twilight DVD, a vampire romance book and a Bella (Twilight) inspired bracelet from Jeweled Ambrosia.

I’m all about the vampires, sparkly or not.

(BTW, this post is not paid for, but I am hoping to win the contest!)
